Inspiration From This Old Lady for Her Self-Respect, She Still Runs a Family after her Son Death!

85-Year-Old Lady in Kolkata chose To Earn A Living by selling chips Instead Of Begging On The Streets, What An Inspiration!

If you have visited Haldirams at Exide Kolkata, you have surely come across this woman selling chips and some other stuff on the pavement just outside Haldirams.

Her name is Mrs. Shila Ghosh after her son died in a car crash she had been doing this work to earn bread and butter for her small family.

She could have lived a life of a beggar like many others dwelling on the footpath. But her pride and self-respect didn’t allow her to become that.

She chose the difficult path. A big Salute to this woman who still runs her family at this age.

A humble request to everyone who came across this post. If possible, instead of buying Lays from the nearby shops if we purchase something from her which is surely worth its value, a family is being helped and it is in a way, a respect for her.

Ghosh changes two buses to reach the Exide crossing on Chowringhee Road from Bally, in Howrah, every afternoon to sell chips on the pavement outside Haldiram till the flow of the homebound-crowd ebbs.

Shila Ghosh earns Rs. 400 per day which is not enough for a family of four. Circumstances could have easily forced her to beg but her dignity and respect is everything for her, she would work till.

She is working since five years after her son died, her 30-year-old nephew is working as a mover on meager wages.
