Transit X – Mike Stanley’s Vision for the Future of Public Transportation

As CO2 emission levels continue to rise in the transport sector, decarbonizing transport is becoming a challenging issue.

Today, the world needs more public transportation systems instead of single-person commuting to reduce harmful carbon dioxide (CO2) greenhouse gas emissions that damage the environment.

The use of public transportation decreases the reliance on fossil fuels and we get less traffic congestion in urban areas. It also helps in improving public health due to pollutants-less gas inhaling.

According to APTA, a single person commuting alone by car if switches to public transport of around 20-mile round trip commute, can reduce his or her annual CO2 emissions by 4,800 pounds per year, equal to a 10% reduction in all GHG produces by a typical two-adult, two-car household.

An effective strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions must include improved fuel economy, the reduced carbon content in fuels, and reductions in the growth of vehicle miles of travel.

Switching to electric vehicles or using electricity to generate hydrogen to power motor vehicles would require a huge increase in electricity generation and transmission capacity.

Personal rapid transit is the key to reducing congestion and improving transportation.

In fact, many organizations and governments across the globe are exploring ways to use renewable energy sources-based technology for public transportation.

Transit X Transportation System

A $1 billion, privately funded ‘Transit X’ transportation system, founded by Mike Stanley, is an automated pod network with the cost, capacity, and convenience to supplant cars, buses, trucks, trains, and short flights!

“The vision is to make a car-free city,” says Mike Stanley. He is an entrepreneur, designer, and engineer who started building robots at the age of 12. His experience spans software, web applications, consumer products, user interface, networks, robotics, and transportation.

Transit X uses a 100-pound, elliptical-shaped pod-car that is suspended from a thin rail about 14-feet above street level. Generally, an elevated-track system costs significantly less than a light rail or a subway line due to its simple design and implementation cost.

100 percent solar-powered flying pod made from carbon fibre gets power from the solar cells mounted on the track. Each pod carries a single passenger or up to a family of five, travels quietly above traffic under a narrow track!   Transit X provides you a nonstop, 24/7, all-weather service which is quiet, stunning design, safe, and best suited within cities, beside highways, and along rail corridors.

It pulls up to your stop, just enter the desired destination on a smartphone, hop in and enjoy a fast, comfortable fun-filled ride, nonstop travel at 45 mph (72 km/h) along main roads and 135 mph (217 km/h) along highways!

According to the company, the first pilot near Boston, Massachusetts will be ready in 2018; cities and towns can apply now to begin service in 2019.   This automated mass transit system helps make cities both greener and cleaner, gaining the most valuable resources – land and clean air!
