Unlimited Sun Fuel + Community Owned Solar Farm – Power to the People at Alberta’s First Solar Co-op
Shared renewable energy arrangements allow several energy customers to share the benefits of one local renewable energy power plant. When the power is supplied strictly by solar energy, it is sometimes called “community solar.” The shared renewables project pools investments from multiple members of a community and provides power and/or financial benefits in return.
Shared renewables projects are often located on the public or jointly-owned property and can be an easier way for renters and condominium owners to benefit from a local solar energy project. There are many reasons why shared renewables might be preferred for a home, business, or individual.
A team of visionaries, cooperative developers, and solar experts have come together to form Alberta Solar Co-op to support the growing need and demand for community-owned renewable energy projects.

Alberta Solar Co-op is currently creating the working model for future community-owned solar farms in our province and we plan to launch our first project this year. As an Alberta resident, you will have the opportunity to become a member of their cooperative and directly invest in this profitable renewable energy project.
About Alberta Solar Co-op
It plans to build Western Canada’s first community-owned solar farm. As a member of the co-operative, Albertans can own part of this 1 – 2 MW grid-connected (distributed generation) solar farm. The 2 MW solar farm will power over 400 homes, offset over 2000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year, and will be equivalent to planting over 10,000 trees! As a member-owned co-operative, their renewable energy projects will be owned and democratically controlled by the Albertan members.
The main benefit of the project – Not only will their projects increase renewable energy generation in the province and encourage diversification of their province’s robust energy portfolio, their members will also have the opportunity to share in the revenue generated from the production of electricity sold to the grid. The solar co-operative will connect individuals to a new and exciting project that greens the existing electricity grid.
Going Forward
Once the project is finalized, Alberta Solar Co-op will issue investment shares to Albertans who would like to become owners in the project. And as a bonus, these shares will be RRSP and TFSA eligible! Members will be able to transfer investment from an existing RRSP/TFSA account into the project.
Once the investment and construction of this first project are completed, they hope to be working with communities across Alberta to develop their own projects and tie into the pent-up demand across the province for investment in renewables.
Support, invest and own a part of Alberta’s renewable energy future! They are providing you with a hassle-free way to tap into the power of the Sun and contribute towards renewable energy development in the province.
The crowd fundraising campaign is underway at Indiegogo, you can generously contribute and support the campaign for the better future of the society.
