In general, we just think of the sustainable living for our environment and many walk the talk as truly actionable efforts to safe guard the eco-system.

“Sustainability is an economic state where the demands placed upon the environment by people and commerce can be met without reducing the capacity of the environment to provide for future generations,” sustainability defined by Paul Hawkin’s Ecology of Commerce.

“It can also be expressed in the simple terms of an economic golden rule for the restorative economy: leave the world better than you found it, take no more than you need, try not to harm life or not of the environment, make amends if you do,” Paul Hawkin added.

SOL – Sustainabiliy For Positive Change

A Kilauea, U.S. based social organisation SOL Projex (SOL stands for S. S.ustainable O.rganic L.iving) aims to spread the concept of sustainable organic living through their eco-friendly project.

An organisation is committed to creating harmony between humans and the Natural world so that we as one can thrive!   The SOL partners Leeda Safa and Jack Whitfield’s initiative will inspire many people who really want to do something for the environment.

The project is built on 80-90% locally sourced from Kauai (HI), natural, reclaimed and sustainable materials, which is currently live at Indiegogo for funding.   The organizations – Kauai Food Forest, Ho’olono Natural Remedies and Kilauea Community Agricultural Center are partners for the project. An off-grid and self-sufficient sustainable living project have taken a cue from nature’s lead for its design and color.

“If we follow the nature’s lead, we cannot go wrong,” says Jack. The tiny housing project has a deep message for the society and has the potential to create huge opportunities, community, and educational outreach.

Some of the unique features of sustainable housing project built by creative and talented Jack can be seen in his craftsmanship, such as the rolling and butterfly windows, curved wave-wall, spiral staircase to bamboo loft, retractable fold-down decks/lanais, guava tree in the kitchen, roof-top edible garden, a living room and awning!

An affordable sustainable housing solution, SOL Projex is simple and practical, best suitable for low-income families living in the developing countries.    It will help people to improve the quality of their living standards who have limited access to natural, sustainable, and cheaper housing.

After the success of the fund-raising campaign, the team aims to complete this tiny home project with roofing, plumbing, water catchment, electrical and installation of the solar system along with the creation of a ‘Home Base’ in Kauai and wants to collaborate with sustainable non-profit communities.
