Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo Believes Apple iPhone X Unlikely to Meet Demand until 2018

The technology giant, Apple is known for its surprises as well as radical innovations of its range of smartphone that also comes with the reliable & predictable quality for better user experience.

By ditching the iPhone 7S, this year Apple has jumped straight to the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X (or iPhone 10) to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the iPhone line.

The screen on the iPhone X like the Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG V30 extended right to the edges and the once huge bezel has been shrunk right down. It’s a futuristic and eye-catching design that is so much more attractive than your typical iPhone.

All sounds good, let’s talk about one probable barrier which one could face regarding supply-demand balance until next year.
Meeting the Demand of iPhone X (10)

According to the Apple, the iPhone X launches on November 3 with pre-orders beginning October 27, an analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s latest research note with KGI Securities believes Apple’s high-end smartphone won’t achieve complete supply-demand balance until next year due to supply constraints.

The forecast for 2017F iPhone X shipments from 45-50 million to around 40 million units, however, they revised up 2018 iPhone X shipment estimate to 80-90 million units.

Apple will ramp up mass production and will enhance the current production of iPhone X which is at 10,000 units per day.

In the press release for Apple’s earnings call released on August 1, Tim Cook said that Apple was still struggling to meet the high demand.

In layman’s terms, if you miss out on October 27th’s preorder, it may be pretty hard to get your hands on an iPhone X for a while.

New iPhone Series to Boost Apple’s Revenue

The late arrival of the iPhone X could also push the sales of the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus in the meantime. The two smartphones will go on sale in retail stores a week later (on September 22).

Apple predicts it may generate $49-52 billion revenue as part of its Q3 2017 results, including the spike received from iPhone sales and the arrival of three new handsets may probably touch the $50 billion mark in total revenue for this quarter.
