How many times has it happened that you felt blue and under the weather before hitting the gym and completing your workout for enhancing the energy? How many times have you felt fatigued before going on a run? Don’t worry, as all of this is perfectly natural. We cannot expect to be fully motivated to work out every single day, as bad days will definitely come.
Well, your abs don’t actually know what good or bad days are, so it is our job to still work out, even when we don’t feel like doing it. In such cases, we need to try and find the best possible reasons to enhance our performance by giving ourselves that small boost of energy that we might need. Take a look at some of the ways how to do that:
1. An energizing snack
The first way to try and get your energy levels up is with an energizing snack. This snack should be eaten 45 minutes or an hour before your workout, and it will deliver some natural sugars to your bloodstream that will make you more energized. The best foods to eat in this case are bananas, mangos or pineapples – basically sweet fruits.
However, you can also go with some nuts or even nut butter as it is an ideal pre-workout energizing snack. Fruit is recommended as fiber and the protein from the nuts will help the sugar from the fruit burn slower and thus provide enough energy for your workout.
2. The little helpers
Apart from fruit and nuts, there is another thing that you can eat and drink in order to get the proper energy for your workout. Different pre-workout supplements work differently, but all of them have one thing in common, they provide you with enough energy for a successful workout. There are plenty of products on the market, but you might want to choose the ones of the highest quality.
Choosing products that are made from the Yohimbe tree (a tree that grows in central Africa) is definitely one of the products that you should try. They will give you the energy that you need, will improve your composition and even promote weight loss if that is what you want. Anyhow, no matter which supplements you choose, make sure to drink or eat them with your meal in the correct time, if you want the most optimal results.
3. The helpful noise
This might sound like a cliché, but there is seriously not a better motivator than good songs. Stocking your phone up with great upbeat songs will most certainly help you make the most of your workout. You can either choose the freshest songs and lift weights while listening to them, or you can go with some of the already-made fitness and workout playlists that you can find. But never underestimate the power of music as a motivator.
4. New clothes
Another amazing way to make yourself get up and go to the gym is getting yourself a new piece of equipment. Shopping has always been a good motivator, and for many reasons. First of all, buying new gym shoes, or a new gym bag or even a new water bottle might make you hit the gym as why would you otherwise spend extra cash on something if you’re not using it?
More importantly, gym clothes always look amazing on us, and this is why we are waiting for the moment to wear them at the gym and show them to the world. This means that if you feel that you are in a workout slump and don’t feel like exercising for days, you might want to go and buy yourself something. This will definitely help.
5. Drink plenty of water
Hydration is simply always important. Not just for working out, not just for losing weight or keeping your skin clear, not only for being healthy. Water is a tool that also helps with your energy levels. We tend to use a lot of water during the day, especially in the moments when we sweat (and we do that during the whole day, not only when we are working out). This is why we should try and give our body the water it lost. Remember to drink during your workout as well.
It is not difficult to find motivation; you only need to know where to look for it. You can also find a gym buddy, this is always something that will motivate you. Find a personal trainer and make them help you out. Motivation and lack of energy are not the same thing, but once you feel motivated, you will be able to move mountains.
